This program will provide an in-depth look at the historical and recent economic impacts of technology companies on the Central Coast Region economy. The Keynote Speaker will be UCSB Economic Department Chairman & Director of the UCSB Economic Forecast Peter Rupert, PhD. along with a standout panel of experts from Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties who will be discussing the larger economic implications for technology companies within the California Central Coast corridor.
Peter Rupert is the Director of the UCSB Economic Forecast Project, and Chair of the UCSB Department of Economics. He is also the Associate Director of the Laboratory of Aggregate Economics and Finance at UCSB. Before joining the UCSB Economics faculty, he was a Senior Research Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. His areas of specialization include macroeconomics, monetary economics, labor, and family economics.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Fed, he held a variety of teaching positions, including Professor of Economics and Canada Research Chair at the University of Western Ontario, and Assistant Professor of Economics at the State University of New York at Buffalo and West Virginia University. He was also visiting professor at the University of Southern California and the University of London.
Professor Rupert earned his B.S. at Santa Clara University, and his MA and PhD from the University of Rochester. He gives the widely-anticipated Santa Barbara County economic forecast at EFP’s annual Economic Summits in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.
