Stephen White is an attorney at Stradling, where he represents companies and investors in various corporate matters, including entity formation, financing transactions, intellectual property and data privacy issues, and acquisitions. He has practiced Corporate and Health Law in Boston and Los Angeles at a large international law firm and Corporate Law in Santa Barbara. Stephen graduated from Columbia College and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He received the Barratt-Brown Memorial Prize for Excellence in Critical Writing. After his graduation, he studied English Literature at Trinity College, Oxford.
Prior to practicing law, Stephen was a software developer and architect for several startups based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also founded his own company, which developed software workflow systems for print advertisers.
Stephen has technical experience in cryptography and computer security. He has worked with clients ranging from software companies to healthcare providers to assist them in complying with international, federal, and state data security and privacy laws and regulations in a wide variety of commercial contexts. He has also drafted whitepapers, technical policies, and contracts addressing such topics as the Massachusetts Data Security Regulations, the Payment Card Industry data security standard, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the CAN-SPAM Act.
