Mr. Cummings is co-founder and an investor in the Santa Barbara Angel Alliance. Previously, he served as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence and a lecturer in the College of Engineering at UC Santa Barbara. He has founded or co-founded several technology-driven start-up companies, including one that executed a multi-billion dollar IPO and one that was acquired for ~$650 million. Mr. Cummings’ areas of technical expertise include advanced energy conversion technologies, electronic vision systems, advanced sensor concepts for security applications, and maritime/intermodal logistics strategies and technologies.
Mr. Cummings was previously a Trustee of both the UC Santa Barbara Foundation and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in Washington, DC. He has served on the advisory boards of the Eco-Entrepreneurship Program at the Bren School, the Technology Management Program at UC Santa Barbara, and is a member of Tech Coast Angels. He is also the past Chairman of the Central Coast chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum.
Mr. Cummings holds nuclear engineering degrees from UC Santa Barbara and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
